The Ecology Management of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has held monitoring to assess the ecological condition of sites along the highway in the direction of the Heydar Aliyev Internation Airport, the management said.
As part of the monitoring, the Ecology Management's Department of Ecological Monitoring held detailed environmental studies to assess the ecological state of the Boyuk Shor Lake, which is also located on the highway in the direction of the airport.
The department took water and soil samples from the area, took photos and studied the sources of pollution; as a result of the research the level of pollution was able to be determined.
As a result of advanced monitoring the department compiled a lengthy report and submitted it to the relevant authorities. The report gave recommendations on environmental restoration. The work to restore these sites and the beginnings of operations will be launched soon.
