Turkmenistan was among the countries fully secured by their own potential reserves of natural gas for more than 100 years, a magazine published by the Turkmen Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources reported.

The article shows the current trends in world energy market, with reference to the data of the authoritative analytic institutes. About 5.51 trillion cubic meters of the last year's total increase in world gas potential fell on the Turkmen fields, the same source said.

In 2009, Turkmenistan plans to increase natural gas production to 75 billion cubic meters. With this Turkmenistan will fully fulfill the obligations on previously planned volumes, undertaken according to the intergovernmental agreement. The transportation of natural fuel through a major gas pipeline connecting Turkmenistan and China will begin in late 2009.

After some period, the volume of its annual export capacity will be increased from 30 billion to 40 billion cubic meters of valuable fuel. Under the national program on the development of oil and gas industry for the period till 2030, the export volumes of Turkmen gas to foreign countries is projected to reach 140 billion cubic meters- in 2020 and up to 200 billion cubic meters-in 2030.

The growth trend in gas demand will remain unchanged in next years. The population of the countries which are major consumers of the gas supplied to world markets is 3 billion people.
