Kazakhstan, Astana, Sept. 25 / Trend , K.Konyrova/
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will sell gas to KazTransGas-Tbilisi for social needs at $167 per thousand cubic meters, the head of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev said in Astana.
The gas intended for commercial purposes costs $200-$220 per thousand cubic meters.
KazTransGas-Tbilisi distributes gas in Tbilisi.
KazTransGas JSC has acquired movable and immovable assets of Tbilgas JSC for $12.5 million and announced plans to invest $82 million in gas distribution systems of Tbilisi. For two years, the company has already made investments worth $45.5 million.
In March 2009, the Georgian authorities have appointed KazTransGas-Tbilisi a special office in the person of the Georgia State Oil and Gas Corporation (OGC), as KazTransGas-Tbilisi owes the supplier more than $40 million for the supplied gas and $31 million of this amount is the debt of consumers - Tbilisi residents for the services rendered.
When the Georgian distribution company was bought by thee Kazakh company, losses due to the aging equipment and the system were 70 percent. Following the modernization, held by the Kazakh company, they decreased almost threefold.
One reason for the debt is people's non-payment.
