The Kazakh Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry will consider supply of AI-80 petrol to farmers in 2010 at fixed prices in a relevant schedule, Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov said.

The Prime Minister stated that during 8 months of 2009, Kazakh ORPs produced 704,600 tons of AI-80 petrol (89 percent in 2008), while according to updated information for 27 days of September, this index reached 88,000 tons of this brand of petrol (107.3 percent growth compared to 2008).

Prices of petroleum products on the domestic market remained stable within five months of 2009. However, over the summer period (June-August), the price of AI-80 petrol has grown averagely by 13 tenge per liter. This is connected with the growth of exports due to the fact that the prices of oil products refining in Kazakhstan are much lower than in neighboring countries. For example, as for Sept.10, 2009 the average price of AI-80 petrol amounted to 92 tenge per liter in Russia and 65.2 tenge in Kazakhstan.

The government has increased oil refining in the domestic refineries by 17.5 percent (1 million 095,600 tons) in August compared to July (903, 500 tons) to avoid a deficit on the domestic market and stabilize prices of petroleum products. In September, refining is expected to be 1, 200, 000 tons of oil with production of 225,000 tons of petrol (107.3 percent growth by 2008) and 380,000 tons of diesel oil (107.5 percent growth).
