Nearly 160,000 meters, that work on smart cards, were installed in Azerbaijan for pre-payment, head of Azerenergy JSC (production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) Etibar Pirverdiyev said on Oct. 20.
The new meters have been provided in Ganja and Shirvan, said Pirverdiyev. A decision was made to install 50,000 more meters in Azerbaijan, said Pirverdiyev. Similar smart meters will be installed in Sumgayt city.
In the first nine months, payments for electricity used in the regions of Azerbaijan were about 90 percent.
Due to using smart meters in payment for using electricity, there are positive changes, said Pirverdiyev.
