The Georgian international Black Sea port of Poti shipped about 680,000 tons of oil-loading cargo in January-September, a source in the port said on Nov.2.

About 98,700 tons of total volume of transported oil cargo falls to Azerbaijan for three quarters. "The rest part fell to import for Georgia and input transit for Armenia," the source added.

Totally, the port shipped more than 4.3 million tons of different cargo in January-September.

The port expects 10-percent decrease in volumes of transportation in 2009 compared to 2008 due to the global financial crisis. "

The volume of transportation is expected to reach 7 million tons by late 2009. About 1 million will fall to oil-loading cargo, the source said.

Earlier decrease in transportation was forecasted to the amount of 20-30 percent.

The port hopes that over the last few months of 2009 it will make up for reduction in volumes of transportation occurred as a result of the last months, the source said.
