SOCAR plans to launch several more petrol stations in Georgia

SOCAR Energy Georgia, which is a subsidiary of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) in Georgia, plans to put into operation two or three petrol stations under the company's brand in November, a source at SOCAR Energy Georgia said.

"Work on the construction of petrol stations is continuing, and this month two or three stations will be put into operation," the same source said.

At present, the total number of filling stations of SOCAR in Georgia is 25 units, but this figure will exceed 30 units by late 2009, said earlier Mahir Mammadov, the head of SOCAR Energy Georgia.

Mammadov said earlier that "We have many plans and we want our company to occupy the first place in retail sales and we will achieve this goal in several years. If the number of our filling stations in Georgia reaches 60-70 units, this means we will close to this result. "

SOCAR Energy Georgia deals with distribution and marketing on the market of oil and oil products in Georgia. Co-founders of SOCAR Georgia include SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 32.7 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili - 16.3 percent.
