Azerbaijan, Baku, November 26 / Trend /

Currently, daily production of gas from four wells in the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz gas and condensate field is about 20 million cubic meters compared to 16-17 million last month, a source on the oil and gas market said on Nov. 26.

"The current production from four wells, which are in operation, was increased to 20 million cubic meters," said the source.
The source said that increasing the production is directly related to the increase in consumption due the deterioration of weather conditions.

This year the forecast for gas production from Shah Deniz is 7.2 billion cubic meters, whereas formerly BP Company (operator of the project) has forecasted production at 7.7 billion cubic meters. Peak production (8.6-9 billion cubic meters) from the field will be achieved next year.

Gas is transported via South Caucasus Pipeline to Turkey and Georgia. During the summer, Azerbaijan did not receive gas from Shah Deniz.

The contract to develop offshore Shah Deniz field was signed on June 4, 1996. Participants to the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 percent, Statoil - 25.5 percent, NICO - 10 percent, Total - 10 percent, LukAgip - 10 percent, TPAO - 9 percent, SOCAR - 10 percent.
