The Azerbaijani and Iranian foreign ministers reached an agreement this week to increase turnover from the current $600 million to $1 billion, Iranian FM Manouchehr Motakki said after meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mamedyarov.
He added that today the sides successfully cooperate in industry, energy and trade.
The sides also reached an agreement on establishing railway transport between Astara (Iran) and Astara (Azerbaijan) and extending the transport to the Persian Gulf under the North-South Railway.
The sides also discussed power-engineering cooperation and bringing Iran to CIS electricity markets of CIS via Azerbaijan. Iran and Azerbaijan are realizing a joint project to increase the volume of power interchange to 700 megawatts from the current 300 megawatts.
