Russia's Astrakhan region intends to learn Azerbaijan's experience in the areas of iodine production and energy conservation, Industry and Natural Resources Minister of the Astrakhan region Yuri Makhoshvili said.

"There are a number of projects which are interesting for us, as Azerbaijan has extensive experience in developing such projects," he said. "The project on the iodine production from the groundwater in the Astrakhan region, which we intend to implement over the next year and a half, is one of them. Azerbaijan has been producing iodine for about 40 years and the Azerbaijani specialists have experience in this field and this can be helpful for us."

According to him, the Astrakhan region is interested in the experience of the Baku refineries, which can be very useful for the processing of raw materials and production of new types of products.

"In addition, Astrakhan and Azerbaijan have long operating time on electric power, energy, conservation, as the wind energy can be used more wisely and efficiently," he said.
