Azerbaijan increased oil export via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in 2009

In 2009, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) transported about 2.5 million tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline compared to 1.2 million tons in 2008, SOCAR said.

In December, the company transported about 140,000 tons of oil via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline compared to 82,500 during the same period of 2008.

About 1.2 million tons of oil was exported via this route in 2007. This index is similar with the index of 2006. Export hit 1.6 million tons via this pipeline in 2005.

SOCAR ships its oil and oil of the joint ventures and operating companies via the Novorossiysk port.

Today, via the Baku - Novorossiysk oil pipeline, Azerbaijan receives (at the port of Novorossiysk) Urals branded oil because of mixing with other oil producers.

The operator of the Baku-Novorossiysk was the Azerbaijan International Operating Company until the end of 2007. The SOCAR began to operate the pipeline since 2007.
