SOCAR will increase sale of oil products on Georgian market in 2010

In 2010, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) plans to sale about 415,000 tons of oil products on the Georgian market compared to 406,000 tons in 2009, source in SOCAR Energy Georgia, which is SOCAR's subsidiary in Georgia said today.

"In 2010, to sale about 415,000 tons of oil products, nearly 45 percent of which will fell to petrol, on the Georgian market," the source said.

In 2009, a total of 190,500 tons of petrol, 174,000 tons of diesel fuel, about 30,000 tons of aviation kerosene, 7.170 of oil bitumen and 4,500 tons fuel oil was sold on Georgia's market.

Azerbaijani oil products covers about 50-60 percent of Georgia's market demand, head of SOCAR Energy Georgia Mahir Mammadov said earlier.

Oil products are manufactured at two oil refining plants in Baku with a total capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year. Both plants are owned by SOCAR, which manufactures roughly 6 million tons of oil per day from offshore and onshore fields.

In 2009, Azerbaijani oil refineries produced about 6.3 million tons of oil compared to 7.33mln tons in 2008. In 1010, the company plans to refine about 6.6mln tons of oil, SOCAR Head Rovnag Abdullayev said earlier.
