SOCAR transfers about 800mln cu m of social gas to Georgia in 2009

In 2009, the SOCAR Gas Supply Company (subsidiary of SOCAR) transferred about 800 million cubic meters of social gas to Georgia, a source in SOCAR Energy Georgia said.

In 2009, the company transferred about 816 million cubic meters of social gas to the Georgian market, the source added.  

Some 302 million cubic meters fell to SOCAR's own gas, 160 million cubic meters - Russia's gas supplied for transit operations, 358 million cubic meters -Georgia's gas produced from Shah Deniz and gas which Georgia receives from transit operations on the South Caucasus gas pipeline to Turkey.

Dec. 26, SOCAR and the Georgian Government signed an agreement to operate 30 gas supply grids and gas distribution networks in the Kakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida and Kvemo Kartli, Ajaria, Guria, Imereti, Samegrelo regions of Georgia. These networks are operated by 24 companies. The sides also signed an agreement on gas deliveries for five years, including to social groups of subscribers identified by the Georgian government under the invariability of prices within five years. SOCAR received the networks in February 2009.

In April, SOCAR Energy Georgia acquired a gas distribution network in the Marneuli region populated by Azerbaijani community.
