In 2009, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) exported about 1 billion cubic meters of gas, a source in SOCAR said. In 2008, the company exported about 788.93 million cubic meters of gas to Georgia.
In December, the company exported about 146.58 million cubic meters of gas to Georgia.
The company launched gas supplies to Georgia in April 2008.
In November 2008, Azerbaijan and Georgia signed the agreement to stir up SOCAR's activity on Georgian gas market during next 5 years beginning from 2009. Under the agreement, SOCAR will launch subsidiaries to supply gas to consumer groups pinpointed by the Georgian government.
