The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) said Wednesday that its basket price passed the 78- dollar mark on the previous day, DPA reported.
The group's basket price reached 78.21 dollars per barrel (159 litres) Tuesday, gaining 0.44 dollars.
The 12-member cartel produces 34 per cent of the world's oil.
