Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (NCSP) has acquired additional land for construction of a new black oil terminal, designed for transshipment of four million tones of black oil a year, the Port said.

Total investment in the project of construction of black oil terminal is estimated at five billion rubles ($160 million).

According to the report, reconstruction and modernization of the wharf berths № 4 are being held on marine vessels of NCSP for ensuring transshipment of oil products.

The project envisages the construction of the tank farm with capacity of 82,000 cubic meters, two railway piers and 48 railway tanks, technological pipelines and other industrial facilities. Using modern technology of receiving oil from railway transport, storage and shipment to vessels not only excludes the flooding of oil products, but also guarantees a high level of ecological and industrial security.

SOCAR transports oil produced in its own fields, as well as oil of joint ventures and operating companies working in onshore fields of Azerbaijan through Novorossiysk.

Today, while transporting oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline, Azerbaijan receives Urals oil (in the port of Novorossiysk) due to mixing with other producers' oil.
