SOCAR conducts engineering-geological works in Russian sector of Caspian Sea

SOCAR’s Geophysics and Geology Department conducts engineering-geological works on the area "Sarmatsky" in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea, the Department said. The works are being carried by the vessel “Zohrab Veliyev”.

SOCAR's Geophysics and Geology Department conducts engineering-geological works on the area "Sarmatsky" in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea, the Department said. The works are being carried by the vessel "Zohrab Veliyev".

In May, the Department using this vessel conducted the similar works on the area "Korchagin" in Russia.

During this year, according to the plan for 2010, the Geophysics and Geology Department has carried out engineering and geological drilling in the areas of Haar-Zira, Bulla-Deniz, Babak, Agburun Deniz, West Absheron, as well as seismic profiling, sonar planning, bathymetry on the  Goshadash-Agburun area.

The similar works were conducted in accordance of  the contracts signed with various organizations in the areas of Alat-Deniz, Sangachal Deniz, "Oil Rocks", "Banka Darvin" and others. The works were carried out using the vessels "Z. Veliyev", "A. Amirov", M. Suleymanov", "Geophysicist-2" and "Orion-7.

The purpose of the engineering-geological studies is complex study of the underwater topography and the upper part of the section and other data on the installation of hydrotechnical structures.
