Wartsila ready to provide services and equipment in process of transporting Azerbaijani gas to Europe (PHOTOS)

The Finnish energy company Wartsila intends to provide its services and equipment to participate in the process of transporting the Azerbaijani gas to Europe, Vice President Kristof Vitsum said at the presentation of services held at the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry June 9.

The Finnish energy company Wartsila intends to provide its services and equipment to participate in the process of transporting the Azerbaijani gas to Europe, Vice President Kristof Vitsum said at the presentation of services held at the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry June 9.

According to Vitsum, Azerbaijan's oil and gas sector is of great interest, Europe considers the republic as a source of gas supply and Wartsila can contribute to this process.

The company intends to expand its participation in power generation and shipbuilding in Azerbaijan.

According to the Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Abbasov, Azerbaijan is interested in using modern technologies, in connection with which a presentation of new opportunities of Wartsila has been organized in Azerbaijan.

The meeting was attended by experts of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Defence Ministry, Ministry of Defence Industry, Ministry of Health, the State Border Service, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan), Azerenergy, Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company, JSC Azeristiliktechizat, the Baku Metro.

In 2005-2010, Wartsila has successfully completed the project of construction and commissioning modular power plants in Azerbaijan with total capacity of 880 megawatts. The company also has wide experience in shipbuilding, construction of heating systems, oil and gas compression equipment and other areas. The company's equipment has made a positive contribution to the implementation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline project.
