Chevron and ConocoPhilips ready to participate in joint oil projects in Turkmenistan

Leaders of the major U.S. oil companies Chevron and ConocoPhilips discussed the possibility of their participation in major energy projects at a meeting with Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov.

In particular, Chevron sated about "the willingness to offer its services and expertise in almost all directions, including exploration and production of oil and gas extraction, refining and transportation, petrochemicals and offshore work".

This was stated by Chevron Corporation Vice President for Corporate Business Development Jay Pryor, the Turkmenistan-4 television channel reported. Pryor noted "the world business tremendous interest in a grand transformation occurring in Turkmenistan".

The sides discussed prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation and  considered the possibility of corporate participation in joint projects implemented by Turkmenistan.

In turn, ConocoPhillips Senior Vice President Larry Archibald stated about "the desire to establish long-term business contacts with Turkmenistan, which is caused by the high prospective and potential of the Turkmen market and conducive environment for cooperation created in the country."

"ConocoPhillips is ready to provide its experience and advanced technology in cooperation with the Turkmen partners," Archibald said.

"Turkmenistan is committed to the broad international partnership," Berdimuhammedov said reaffirming readiness to develop "productive interaction with leading U.S. companies, whose extensive experience and advanced technology can be claimed in various sectors of the national economy."

In addition to oil exploration, oil production, supply and transportation of petroleum products ConocoPhillips also specializes in mining and processing of gas, and petrochemical industries.
