Representatives of the American company MI-LLC got acquainted with the sources of waste and their conditions of keeping at the enterprises of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan), SOCAR said.
In order to familiarize with the situation MI-LLC staff visited different departments of oil and gas Production Unit Azneft, drilling, construction, transport and other enterprises of SOCAR, and also got familiarized with certain normative documents and permissible level of emissions.
MI-LLC offered the companies to install recycling for waste utilization in SOCAR enterprises, and the discussions over aspects of forthcoming operations under the project were held.
Now one of the main issues is the treatment and utilization of emissions in the oil refinery Azneftyag , which as a result of the production is contaminated with oxidized tar.
SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and American Company MI LLC signed a contract for the preparation of a feasibility study for the reconstruction of SOCAR's centre for waste recycling and establishing waste management system in Baku May 20. The document was signed by SOCAR vice-president on ecological issues Soltan Aliyev, MI vice-president MI Sven Maikranz.
Within preparation of the feasibility study it is envisaged to choose appropriate technologies for processing depending on the amount of waste formed as a result of activity of SOCAR's enterprises.
