Azerbaijan, Baku, July 27 / Trend, E.Ismayilov /

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic sent to sea another block of the Oily Rocks-2585 Platform from the Heydar Aliyev Baku Deep Water Jacket Plant.

The block will be installed on the offshore field of the same name in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, a SOCAR source said July 27.

The source added that the plant is continuing to construct the platform's third block.

"The second block has been already sent to the sea," he said. "Another block is currently being constructed. Some 20 percent of the total operations remain to be done. And these operations are expected to be completed by late summer."

The Neftegasstroi Trust in the Zig settlement is constructing the fourth and final block.

A platform with a height of 64 meters will be installed at a depth of 46 meters along 500 meters of the five-unit Neft Dashlari-1887 Platform. Twelve wells will be drilled.

New platforms are necessary to maintain stable oil production at Oily Rocks, whose reserves are well developed. Oily Rocks is the first offshore oilfield where Azerbaijan began hydrocarbon production.

SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said earlier that the residual recoverable oil and gas reserves at Oily Rocks exceed 182 million tons.
