The Middle East Petrol oil transportation company plans to transport over 10 million tons of oil via Azerbaijan and Georgia by late 2010, Azersun Holding head Abdulbari Gozel said.
Roughly 5 million tons of oil cargo were transported in the first half of the year - a 6-7-percent increase from 2009. Total transportation will exceed 10 million tons, Gozel said.
He noted that about 70 percent of the 5 million tons fell to liquid bulk cargo from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. The cargo was transported by railway to the Georgian Black Sea ports of Batumi and Kulevi.
