SOCAR conducts engineering-geological operations in Russian sector of Caspian Sea

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) conducts engineering-geological operations on the prospective structure "Sarmatskaya" in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea, a source in SOCAR said.

"At present, geologists conduct engineering works on the structure. In particular, engineering-geological drilling is underway," the source said.

According to him, the works are carried out under contract for this year, which involves works on the prospective structures in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. In particular, they include the structure "Rakushechnoye", " Sarmatskaya ", "Korchagin" and others. Works under the contract will be carried out intermittently till late 2010.

SOCAR periodically provides services to other Caspian countries under contracts on a commercial basis.

SOCAR's Geology and Geophysics Department deal with geological and geophysical works in oil and gas sphere. The Department provides search services, both on land and in the sea.
