BP Azerbaijan presents report on sustainable development

Two oil wells in the Shah Deniz gas field of the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, operated by BP, were the third and fourth most productive among all the company's wells in 2009, according to a report on sustainable development presented by BP Azerbaijan in Baku today.

At the presentation, the leader of the team preparing the report, Rashad Bayramov, spoke about the work undertaken in preparation for the annual report.

Based on the report, the Shah Deniz (a) well, with a flow rate of 45,342 units of barrel of oil equivalent (BOE) a day, was ranked the third among BP wells, while the Shah Deniz (b) well, with an equivalent flow rate of 42,548 BOE a day, was ranked fourth.

Two wells in Australia were ranked as BP's most productive, with a corresponding daily flow of 72,737 BOE and 72,558 BOE.

Active well (a) on the Central Azeri field (34,187 barrels per day of BOE) was ranked eighth, the Western Azeri field (33,981 BOE) was ranked ninth and well (b ) on the Central Azeri field (31,290 BOE) was ranked 11th.

The 13th and 15th places were held respectively by wells (b) and (c) on the Western Azeri field with daily flow rates of 31,210 and 30,126 barrels per day BOE. The Shah Deniz well (c) with the corresponding daily flow rate of 30,695 BOE was ranked 14th.

BP is also the operator of a project on the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli offshore oil fields located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
