Azerikimya Production Association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations held a joint exercises on civil defense at the Ethylene-polyethylene factory in Sumgayit on Friday, industrial association.
The main purpose of the exercise is to organize mutual operational activities of Azerikimya and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Actions to counteract the results of a conventional blast in a tank factory were carried out during the exercises. More than 200 people, over a dozen fire trucks and other special equipment were attracted to the exercises.
Mukhtar Babayev, head of Azerkimya said these exercises will be continued in future. The exercises demonstrated both the preparedness and some disadvantages that will be addressed by doing relevant work. Babayev mentioned the failure of the participants in the exercises to fulfill all functions in accordance with rules in the first place among the shortcoming. He also stressed a loss of time. In addition, a strong wind today revealed low pressure in fire-fighting installations. Every necessary actions will be taken to increase the pressure on these facilities.
Attending the exercises were representatives of SOCAR, the Ministry, the Sumgayit city executive power, the Civil Defense Headquarters and ambulance.
