KazMunaiGas held public hearings to assess the environmental impact of local oil and gas projects in Aktobe this week. The hearings addressed the composition of technical designs to construct exploration wells on local fields.

The development of the Urikhtau oil and gas field is a social project intended to provide Kazakhstan's southern regions with gas. The project is implemented under the Beineu-Bozoi-Akbulak main gas pipeline project.

Urikhtau was discovered in 1983. Its hydrocarbon reserves were included in the state balance sheet for the first time in 1988.

KazMunaiGas is Kazakhstan's national operator for exploring, producing, refining and transporting hydrocarbons. Hundred percent of the company's shares belong the Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund.

The Urikhtau Operating LLP is a wholly-owned subsidiary of KazMunayGas.
