Azerbaijan, Baku, September 17 / Trend E. Ismayilov /

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) expects daily production of 500,000 cubic meters of gas from the new exploration well on the Bulla Deniz field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, SOCAR vice-president on geology, geophysics and mining Khoshbakht Yusifzade said today. Exploratory well No. 89 is being drilled from the Bulla Deniz-82 field.

He said that the drilling of the new well may be completed by late 2010. The projected depth of the well is 6,400 meters.

Previously, the geophysics and geology department installed an RT-Leuzas remote control system to monitor and control the well.

The Bulla Deniz field has been exploited since 1975. More than 62 billion cubic meters of gas and 11 million tons of oil and condensate were extracted up to 2009.

Over 450,000 cubic meters of gas are extracted daily from Bulla Deniz field. SOCAR geologists said that gas production in this field can be increased by several times.
