SOCAR, Sumy Frunze NPO sign contract on equipment supply

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and the Sumy Frunze Machine-Building Science and Production Association (Ukraine) signed a contract to supply equipment to modernize the Astara Compressor Station to improve its performance.

SOCAR needs to increase the station's productivity to increase gas supplies to Iran.

The Astara station was built by the Sumy Frunze NPO in 2005. Azerbaijani gas is transported to Iran via the station. The station's total capacity is 3 million cubic meters of gas per day. SOCAR decided to expand the station's total capacity due to the high demand for natural gas. The company is constructing a new compressor line at the facility.

Based on the contract, the Sumy Frunze NPO will deliver equipment necessary for liquid gas dehydration, as well as other technological equipment, such as dust collectors, air coolers, tanks, and separators. The company has also agreed to manufacture products for Azerbaijan in the shortest possible time - by October-November of this year.

The Sumy Frunze NPO has long operated in the oil, gas and chemical industries in Azerbaijan. In 2002, the company built and put into operation the North Compressor Station with a capacity of 6.3 MW. The company also participated in the construction and modernization of the chemical industry in Sumgayit.
