Azerenergy JSC (generation and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan) completes the reconstruction of the last unit of the Azerbaijan Thermal Power Station, a source in the company said.
"The reconstruction of the last unit is under completion," the source said.
The head of "Azerenergy" Etibar Pirverdiyev said earlier that the reconstruction work will be completed before the end of this year.
Azerbaijani thermal power plant generated about 5.24 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in 2010 or 30.2 million kilowatt-hours more than projected.
The station consists of eight units with a capacity of 300 megawatts each. After the work on reconstruction completes, capacity will increase from 2,000 megawatts to 2,600 megawatts.
The first unit was put into operation on Oct. 20, 1981.
