Azerbaijan, Baku, April 15 / Trend /

Azerenergy is working to construct a 500-kilovolt power transmission line within the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey energy bridge project, the company reported on Friday.

The power transmission line is being laid from Mingachevir to Azerbaijan's border with Georgia.

"Upon the project's completion, Azerbaijani power will be transmitted to Europe via Georgia and Turkey," the company said.

Head of Azerenergy Etibar Pirverdiyev said earlier that the work will be completed by late 2011.

It will be technically possible to export electricity from Azerbaijan to Georgia and Turkey in May 2012.

The project is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development.
