BP to drill new production well on Shah Deniz field in 2012

British BP, which is a technical operator of the Shah Deniz field's development, plans to complete drilling of a gas producer well - SDA03z in the first quarter of 2012, BP report on the company's activity in the first quarter of 2011 says.

According to information, drilling of the SDA03z well is planned to be started after SDA06 is completed and handed over to production. The SDA06 well is scheduled to be handed over in the second quarter of 2011.

Following the completion of the SDA06 well, BP will begin to drill an offshoot of well SDA-03, which was partially closed due to bad technical conditions, a source said earlier.

Peak production is forecasted at over 8.6-9 billion cubic meters. The Shah Deniz's gas reserves are estimated at 1.2 billion cubic meters. According to forecasts, within the second phase of the field's development gas production here may be increased to 24 billion cubic meters per year.

The contract to develop the offshore Shah Deniz field was signed June 4, 1996. Participants to the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 percent, Statoil - 25.5 percent, NICO - 10 percent, Total - 10 percent, LukAgip - 10 percent, TPAO - 9 percent, SOCAR-10 percent.
