Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki after a meeting with visiting Czech Prime Minsiter Petr Necas on Monday called on Czech companies to boost their investments in Iraq and take part in the reconstruction process, DPA reported.

The two countries have signed several agreements in trade, industry and defence sectors, Necas said during his visit to Baghdad.

"We also agreed on further cooperation with the Czech private sector in oil infrastructure projects, petrochemicals as well as aircraft trainings," al-Maliki said.

Necas headed a large delegation of businessmen, accompanied by the Czech ministers of defence and of trade and industry.

He is also expected to meet with Parliament Speaker Usama al-Nujaifi and Vice-President Adel Abdul-Mahdi.

The visit marks the first by a Czech prime minister to Iraq since the 2003 US-led invasion.
