Turkmenistan has a significant amount of gas, which can be transported to the European market.

The Transcaspian pipeline is the only missing thing to deliver turkmen gas to the European markets, International Pipeline Projects Department, OMV Gas & Power GmbH Chief Michael-Dieter Ulbrich told Trend in Baku.

From the technical side Turkmen gas is available, and political side is close to solution, he said.

If the political will is there, the legal feasibility is there, then this pipeline could be built within few years, he added.

Turkmenistan has huge gas potential. It would make a lot of sense for Turkmenistan to deliver gas through Nabucco to Turkey and Europe, Nabucco representative Christian Dolezal said.

"Iraq has big potential to export gas to Europe," Ulbrich said. "A political aliment for this is on a good way, and we expect that we will probably has some solution for Iraqi gas this year."

Nabucco project envisages gas supplies from the Caspian region and the Middle East to the EU countries. The pipeline's maximum capacity will hit 31 billion cubic meters per year. Participants of the project are Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE companies. Each of participants has equal share to the amount of 16.67 percent.
