Iran rejects reports on Shell, BP station building offer

Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Jalil Salari rejected reports that Shell and British Petroleum (BP) have offered construction of petrol, gasoline and CNG stations in Iran, ISNA reported.

"We have not received such a proposal from the two companies so far," he said.

Some media have already said that the two corporations have sent a letter to Iranian Oil Ministry, offering construction and expansion of petrol, gasoline and CNG chain stations inside Iran.

Also the director of Iranian gas and petrol station owners association said he was not informed of such a request.

"The request amid weak financial situation of Iranian station owners following rise of oil products price, shows they (the two companies) may seek selling their own products or making publicity for them."
