Azerbaijan, Baku, Aug.19 / Trend /

Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft, Ltd. "(100-percent subsidiary of JSC "LUKOIL") summed up the first phase of satellite monitoring in the northern part of the Caspian Sea in 2011", the company said.
According to analysis of satellite imagery, oil spills associated with activity at the production facilities of the Korchagin field in the licensed area "North", were not revealed.
The bulk of recorded pollution occurred as a result of discharge of oil-contaminated water by ship, caused by their characteristic form and location near shipping routes.
The largest spill in an area of 69 square meters was recorded in the Russian sector of the sea at a distance of 115 km from the south of the LUKOIL licensed areas.
Monitoring is carried out by SCANEX Engineering and Technology Centre.

In the period between Febr. 1 to Aug. 1 of this year, 103 sessions of operative satellite radar imagery was conducted in the North Caspian Sea.
Round-the-clock reception and processing of radar images was organized at the SCANEX Moscow center, which will enable informing the customer about revealed oil pollution with minimal delay.
