The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has completed the process of organizing a system for collection, treatment and utilization of stratal water on the Gunasli field (shallow part) and Oil Rocks field, the company reported today.

"Construction and installation work under the project have already been completed. The project mainly involves the creation of a system for management of stratal water in the completely closed form and its re-injection into reservoirs," the report reads. The work on system creation is carried out on the Gunashli-4 platform.

To maintain a stable level of the reservoir pressure in the Guneshli field, the company works to expand the Gunashli-4 platform to place gas-lift system on it. Currently, the test - commissioning work is being conducted on the compressor station with capacity of 4 million cubic meters of gas per day. Following the launch of the station, it will be possible to complete the collection of low- pressure gases formed in the field.

The volume of associated gas emitted into the atmosphere is 150-250 million cubic meters of gas per year.
