CJSC "Ekol muhendislik xidmetleri" within the order of the Azneft Production Unit of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has completed a project of cleaning up oil-polluted territories around the Lake Gala, which is located on the Gala field, H.Z.Tagiyev Oil and Gas Production Department said on Thursday.
The old field Gala is owned by the H.Z.Tagiyev Oil and Gas Production Department of SOCAR.
Operations on cleaning up lands on a contract area began in March 2011.
During project implementation period more than 120,000 cubic meters of oil sludge were removed from the area. Over 25,000 cubic meters of chippings and about 102,000 cubic meters of soil were brought to the area.
As a result of the work done around the lake 24 hectares of oil-polluted lands were cleaned and rehabilitated.
"Ecological condition of the area around the Lake Gala greatly improved with the implementation of the project," the report says.
