In 2011 Azerenergy (power generation and distribution in Azerbaijan) increased power generation by 5.6 percent year-on-year.
"In January-August about 13.2 billion kilowatt hours of electricity was generated compared to more than 12.5 billion kilowatt hours during the similar period of 2010," Azerenergy said.
More than 11.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity of total volume of electricity generated during eight months accounted for thermal power plants, while the remaining about 2.1 billion kilowatt hours - hydropower plants.
In August Azerenergy generated over 1.5 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, which is similar to the indicator of August 2010.
During the reporting period electricity overflow was carried out with Russia, Iran, Georgia and Turkey.
