The company Statoil is interested in participating in the development of the newly discovered fields, as well as exploration and discovery of new fields in Azerbaijan, the coutnry's Industry and Energy Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The company's leadership voiced their intentions at a meeting with the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev in Baku.
A Statoil delegation, which includes Executive Vice President Peter Mellbye, Vice Chairperson Torgeir Kydland and President of Statoil Azerbaijan Lars Troen Sorensen, is in Azerbaijan.
During the meeting it was announced that the company intends to expand its activities in gas sector in Azerbaijan.
Norway's Statoil is a member of such major projects of development of oil and gas projects in Azerbaijan, as the development of "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" oil and gas fields' block and "Shah Deniz" gas-condensate field.
