Iran plans to export 30 percent of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) output to Europe, the Iran Liquefied Natural Gas Company's managing director said in Tehran on Monday.
Ali Kheirandish told the Pana news agency that China and India will be the two major markets for Iranian LNG in the long run.
He added that negotiations are underway with a Chinese consortium to establish a new LNG plant in Assalouyeh, south of Iran.
Referring to the start of establishing two production units in the Iran LNG plant in Assalouyeh, Kheirandish said once the units come on stream the production capacity will raise to 21 million tons per year.
Based on the current LNG prices, the country will earn $18.5 billion from selling 21 million tons of LNG, the official said.
