Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 31 / Trend , E.Ismayilov /

The European Commission will allocate the second tranche of around 4.5 million euros within the programme to support the sustainable energy development in Azerbaijan by late 2011, Deputy Head of the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources in Azerbaijan Jamil Melikov told journalists on Monday.

Mr. Malikov said it is not known whether this will be fully allocated. The tranche can be distinguished in part, by 70-80 per cent depending on the evaluation work carried out by Azerbaijan.

The State Agency's cooperation with the European Commission focused on six main areas for the alternative energy development.

Already five main areas have been concluded with contractors' areas of cooperation, he said, but the sixth is not signed which covers work with the public sector and information on alternative and renewable energy sources.
Much attention has been paid to the alternative energy sector in recent years and it was decided to establish a State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy.

He said work is already underway on drafting legislation in the field of alternative energy and energy efficiency, developing the secondary documents.
