Ministry: Turkey forecasts significant increase in energy consumption by 2020

Turkey's demand for oil will increase to 59 million tons until 2020, compared to 40 million tons as of 2010, the report on the Turkish energy sector stated on the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resource's website on Monday.

According to the information, Turkey's need for natural gas in 2020 will increase up to 59.3 billion cubic metres compared to 42.6 billion cubic metres in 2010.

According to the report the energy consumption by all sectors of the Turkish economy will significantly increase by 2020. In particular, the production will increase from 43.585 billion tons of oil equivalent as of 2010 to 78.732 billion tons of oil equivalent in 2020.
