Kazakhstan expects the second phase of Kashagan field development to complete in 2018-2019, Kazakh vice-minister of oil and gas Lyazzat Kiinov said at the 20th Congress of the World Petroleum Council in Doha today.
"We think that we will complete the second phase of the Kashagan field development in 2018-2019," he said. "However, the government guarantees that the contractors of the consortium will operate within the laws that exist in Kazakhstan."
He said that Kashagan field is a very large and complex project. The production in the first phase must begin in June 2013. The production volume will amount from 370 to 450 barrels per day. The production volume will be doubled during the second phase.
He said that the government has no doubt that the Kashagan project will be completed.
