Ashgabat, Kuala Lumpur to expand energy cooperation

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak attach great importance to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, a joint communique signed during the Turkmen President's state visit to Malaysia stated.

Both sides agreed to strengthen, promote and develop comprehensive cooperation in the oil and gas industry on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

They also agreed to encourage the strengthening of cooperation between organisations and companies of both countries in the areas of transport, the chemical industry, communications and multimedia technologies, natural resources and environmental protection, as well as other areas.

Both sides admitted the need to maintain regular contact, to hold consultations and coordination at various levels and to exchange views to realise the full potential of bilateral relations.
