Iran is working on two simultaneous plans to develop the Arash field, a gas and oil field it shares with Kuwait, Shana News Agency reports.
One option is the cooperation instead of competition. Iran has proposed this decision to Kuwait many times and expects a positive response, the National Iranian Offshore Oil Company's (IOOC) public relations office said. This would not only maximize national interests, it would intensify the two countries' relations.
Iran's second option is to develop the Arash field independently.
International law allows countries to carry out exploration, development and production in their territorial waters and Iran intends to do so.
