Georgia will become the first country in the region, which will bring into play high-voltage direct current electric transmission lines, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alexander Khetaguri told journalists on Friday prior to the Georgian-Turkish Energy Conference.
The conference will be attended by Prime Minister Nika Gilauri, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alexander Khetaguri, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz, as well as representatives of the energy and banking sector in Turkey.
During the conference, the participants will consider issues of cooperation between Georgia and Turkey in the spheres of energy, trade and investment.
An agreement on the construction of the lines between Turkey and Georgia will be signed on Friday, Khetaguri said.
"This project is being implemented under the construction of the united electric transmission lines of the Black Sea," he noted.
