Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 7 / Trend E. Ismayilov /

More than 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas were selected from the underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan in November, a source in SOCAR told Trend today.

There are two underground gas storage facilities Kalmaz and Garadagh in Azerbaijan.

The source said that about 760 million cubic meters of gas of the total volume of selected gas fall to Garadagh gas storage facility, about 480 million cubic meters - Kalmaz gas storage facility.

At present, the gas volume in underground gas storage facilities exceeds 2 billion cubic meters, the source said.

"The gas reserves in the Garadagh gas storage facility exceed the gas volumes in Kalmaz gas storage facility," the source said.

About 3.25 billion cubic meters of gas were pumped into underground gas storage facilities compared to 3.05 billion cubic meters last year.

SOCAR planned to pump 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas to the underground gas storage facilities last year but the process was stopped earlier than planned because of bad weather conditions and consumption growth.
