Turkey imported 11.7 million tons in January-August 2011, which is 2.2 million tons more than during the same period in 2010, the Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Ministry's report, published on its official website on Friday, said.
Imports stood at 1.3 million tons in August 2011, almost 600,000 barrels less than in July 2011. Oil imports into the country reduced by 100,000 barrels in August compared to the same period in 2010. They amounted to 1.4 million tons in August 2010.
The average price of one ton of imported oil amounted to $826.7, per barrel which is $112 in August 2011. Turkey paid about $1.179 million for oil imports in August.
Oil importers to Turkey are Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Libya, Iraq and Syria.
