Cost of Azerbaijani gas exported to Turkey now hits $330 per 1,000 cubic meters, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Novruz Mammadov told Turkish journalists, the Sabah newspaper reported on Monday.

"Turkey imports gas from Russia for $450, from Iran for $420 per 1,000 cubic meters. Azerbaijani gas is supplied to Turkey at the lowest price," Mammadov said.

At present Turkey receives gas from the Azerbaijani gas condensate field Shah Deniz via the South Caucasus pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum). According to the contract, Turkey must receive 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas within the first phase of Shah Deniz field development.

Turkey will receive 6 billion more cubic meters of gas from the second phase of the field development.

Earlier, price of gas for Turkey hit $120 per 1,000 cubic meters. However, cost of Azerbaijani gas also increased due to high cost of the fuel on the markets.
Reserves of Shah Deniz field are estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.

The contract to develop the offshore Shah Deniz field was signed June 4, 1996. Partners in the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 per cent, Statoil - 25.5 per cent, NICO - 10 per cent, Total - 10 per cent, LukAgip - 10 per cent, TPAO - 9 per cent and SOCAR-10 per cent.
