11 petrochemical companies among Iran’s 100 best sellers

Eleven petrochemical companies are among Iran's top 100 companies with the highest amounts of sales in the past calendar year which ended on March 20, 2011, ISNA news agency reported on Tuesday.

Borzouyeh was ranked the bestselling petrochemical company with some 30 trillion rials (around $2.4 billion) in sales. Imam and Tamin were the second and the third top petrochemical companies, the report added.

For the time being, Iran holds a 24.5 per cent and 2.4 per cent share respectively in the Middle East and the world's petrochemical production.

The National Petrochemical Company's managing director Abdolhossein Bayat said in July 2011 that the value of Iran's petrochemical exports is expected to reach $14 billion by the end of the current calendar year, according to Press TV.

Mir Bayat noted that Iran produced more than 40 million tons of petrochemical goods in the last Iranian calendar year.

Statistics show that the Islamic Republic exports annually exports some $2 billion worth of petrochemicals to 17 European countries.

The country also exported 18 million tons of petrochemical products worth $11.6 billion last year, showing a 26 per cent increase compared to two years ago, he added.
